Crystal White divides her time between performing as a freelance bassist and the daily adventures of motherhood. Crystal grew up with music in her genes with a family history of artists including an organist, concert pianist, opera singer, ballerina and a line of cellists. As a bassist she has performed with the Winnipeg Symphony Orchestra, Thunder Bay Symphony Orchestra, South Dakota Symphony Orchestra, Duluth-Superior Symphony Orchestra and the Brandon Chamber Players among others. She is the bassist for Canadian singer-songwriter Sheena Grobb, bassist and singer for the rhythm and blues band NTS.blue and plays concertina and mandolin for the irish band Fingal’s Last Pint. Crystal currently teaches double bass and electric bass in Brandon and surrounding communities. She also teaches double bass at the International Music Camp. Crystal earned a Bachelor of Music in double bass and euphonium from Brandon University and a Master of Music degree in double bass performance from the University of Minnesota. She recently attended the Tafelmusik Summer Institute in Toronto studying with David Sinclair. Crystal plans to continue as a freelance bassist and teacher, and hopes to earn a Doctorate in music in the future.
