Katie Gannon, violin

Well-known as performer, teacher and adjudicator, violinist Katie Gannon has become an integral part of the music scene in Regina. Currently a member of the Regina Symphony Orchestra, she has also been involved with productions at Regina’s premier Globe Theatre, is a regular guest artist with the Luther Bach Choir, and has performed with singer-songwriter Sarah Slean. Her Living Sky Quartet appears regularly in the city and its environs, and Katie has performed with orchestras from the Newfoundland Symphony to the Santa Cruz de Tenerife Zarzuela.
As well as performing extensively in Saskatchewan, Katie is the founder of Living Sky Music where violin and viola students of all ages benefit from her innovative teaching methods. As part of her dedication to music education Katie is a part of the Regina Symphony Orchestra’s outreach program Strings for Change that provides music lessons to at-risk youth in inner-city schools.
Katie holds a Bachelors degree in music performance from Wilfrid Laurier University where she studied violin with Jerzy Kaplanek, chamber music with the Penderecki String Quartet and won the PSQ Chamber Music Prize as a member of the Sirius String Quartet. She gained her Masters degree from Memorial University, Newfoundland studying with Dr. Nancy Dahn.
